New work in progress for our annual group exhibition

Clare, John and myself are working very hard at the moment making new work for our forthcoming     'Current Obsessions 3' exhibition @ TAAG Gallery. We are all full-time artists and don't get to spend time with each other the rest of the year, so we really look forward to            exhibiting together every April. I shall be in the gallery most of the nine days and John & Clare will be joining me at various times. As is our custom; we will be inviting 'special guest' makers to bring their unique flavour to our visual feast.

New mosaic mural for Exeter college

Exeter College asked me to make a large  mosaic mural to decorate one of the wall spaces in their newly constructed Law and Social Sciences building. My fellow artist, Amy McCarthy has made a large stained glass     window for the upper floor of the same building. I have taken elements of the window design and  included them in the mural, as I feel that the two artworks need to have a connection. In November 2025 I worked with 24 students based in the new building. They created different coloured  sections of mosaics on mesh, which I then          patchworked into the body of the mural. The completed mural has now been permenantly            installed, my third project for the college.

Devon Open Studios 2025 @ TAAG Gallery

I am very pleased to be taking part in Devon Open Studios at TAAG Gallery again this year. Last year was very successful and we had lots of people   coming in to see our work and chat with the artists. This year we will be open every day from Saturday September 6th -14th. The show is running for a   shorter time than last year, so please do make a note of the dates to avoid disappointment. I am planning to be in the.      gallery every day from 10am -5pm working on projects, so please pop in for a chat if you can. I will be exhibiting new work made specifically for this Open Studios exhibition.

Installation of Totnes
 mosaic panels.

After remaining in storage since December 2019, my five large       mosaic panels have finally been.   installed permenantly in Totnes town centre. The panels were originally due to be installed in the Market Square, just before the pandemic began and the project had to be put on hold. For various reasons they could no longer be placed in the  intended positions and new spots have been found for them. Four of the panels have been placed in bus stop shelters and the fifth will be inside the civic hall. I'm very happy that the panels are on display at last and will be seen by lots of people. The two mosaic 'tree' panels (made with children from local schools) were installed in the covered part of Totnes Market Square two years ago. This project was funded by a grant from the Arts Council.

Glastonbury Festival 2025

It was a real pleasure to be able to unstall my new 'One Love' mosaic in the Kidz Field for this year's festival. The big, pink castle looked amazing and my rainbow mosaic arch,          installed last year, needed no.     maintenance at all. The 'One Love' mosaic has had to come back home with us, as that part of the wooden castle is being replaced for           Glastonbury 2027. It will be on      display in my Devon Open studios     exhibition in September.

New 'One Love'     mosaic

I have just completed a new large circular mosaic to take up to         Glastonbury Festival later this month. This will be installed in the Kidz Field at the top of the big, pink castle, the focal point of the area. The mosaic is constructed on.                        exterior board and is fully       weatherproof. Last year I took up a rainbow mosaic arch which has.    remained in place since last year's festival.

Delamore Arts
May 1st -31st

It has been a truly enjoyable experience to have taken part in The Kiln Room exhibition, hosted by Artizan gallery, in a beautiful country house setting in South Dartmoor. The Stable Galleries included a wonderful exhibition of prints and a diverse collection of ceramic work. There were also workshops and artist demos.

Homeyards Botanical
Gardens
mosaic seat spring clean

The Homeyards mosaic seat will have been in place for three years this coming July. It was time to give it a good scrub and deal with a few minor repairs. Spending time in the gardens is always a pleasure and we had a very enjoyable day resoring it back to how it looked when freshly installed. The salty air blowing over from the river and all the tiny plant spores, wanting somewhere to grow, leave a residue that builds up over time. This was my favourite public art project, working with potter Alison Miles, and I will continue to      maintain it so that it can be         enjoyed by everyone visiting the gardens.

Current Obsessions Exhibition @ TAAG Gallery

Our 'Current Obsessions'            exhibition is now sadly over, but we all enjoyed it very much. We have our third group exhibition booked for April 2026 to look forward to.

Thank you to everyone who visited and stopped for a chat. I have three new exciting commissions to start work on and several pieces have found a new home. We spend a lot of hours working in isolation and it's important for artists to have time together and enjoy each other's work, which John, Clare and myself have certainly done over the last week in TAAG Gallery.
