Unique ceramic artwork inspired by the natural world

Reflecting the changing seasons and celebrating our wild birds, tangled hedgerows and leafy woodland.

about...

Michelle is a professional ceramacist based in the seaside town of Teignmouth in Devon. Through close observation of the natural world and experimentation she has developed her own distinctive way of

working. Michelle makes all her own pieces, a mixture of sprigs, carved clay birds and imprints from organic forms. Once she has made all the individual pieces the process of bringing them together takes many hours. The aim is to achieve a balanced, but natural appearing composition, capturing the wildness of tangled undergrowth.                  The finished artworks will often reflect the season in which they were made and the wild birds that have been encountered in the garden and on walks in the woods. Michelle has a BA Hons Fine Art

degree from UWE (painting & printmaking) and is a qualified FE teacher.

Kiln fired glass mosaic

Alongside her claywork, Michelle also specialises in creating compositions with fusible glass        components. She makes all the pieces herself by combining fusible glass in different ways and.       firing at various temperatures. The dichroic glass brings intense colour and has wonderful             iridescent, light reflecting  properties.

These mosaics take several months to make as the pieces are small and fitted very tightly together.
